The major motion picture "Top Guns" starring Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer was shot partly in Oceanside at 102 Pacific Street. The house is still there at the corner of Pacific St and Seagaze Dr.

You'll have plenty of beaches to enjoy during your visit to North Coast Village. With over 5 mile of beach from Carlsbad to Oceanside, you'll have lots of room to enjoy the sun and waves. Oceanside has 8 beaches:
Pier View South Beach is the most popular beach and is located just south of the Oceanside Pier. located right along the Strand. Lifeguard towers 1 and 2 are located here and there is surfing here, which is allowed up to 100 feet from the Oceanside Pier. Oceanside Pier is at the end of Pier View Way which you can access via Highway 1 or Pacific Street. If you're looking for a quiet beach, then this is probably not for you and your family.
Harbor Beach Oceanside is adjacent to the Oceanside Harbor. Harbor Beach has three lifeguard towers, Towers 10, 12, 14. You can see surfers surfing near the Jetti and enjoy a quiet time together.
Boulevard Beach in Oceanside is located at the end of Oceanside Blvd. In the summer there is an area directly in front of the lifeguard tower (Tower 9), approximately 200 ft., that is designated for swimmers, waders and body boarders.
Tyson Street Beach is located at the end of Tyson Street. Lifeguard Tower 5 is located here.
Pier View North Beach is Oceanside's deepest beach and the North Strand road parallels it. There are picnic areas with barbecues. This beach ends near the North Coast Village complex.
Wisconsin Street Beach is located at the end of Wisconsin Street. This area is parallel to the South Strand which is a one-way, southbound street that parallels the beach. There is a ramp just north of the lifeguard Tower 7 for access to the beach from Pacific Beach.
Breakwater Way is a quiet beach great for families and located just south of Oceanside Harbor. You'll see surfers and volleyball players frequently here.
Buccaneer Beach is Oceanside's smallest beach that has lifeguard tower 11 and it has a park nearby. Buccaneer park has a large grass area, jungle gym, basketball court, picnic tables, barbecue grills, restrooms, shower, snack bar and public telephone.
