Oceanside Harbor
Oceanside harbor is a surprisingly large seaside harbor on the northern edge of Oceanside and San Diego County. The Camp Pendleton military base is a short distance away. The harbor area is almost considered an entertainment area and includes a lighthouse, restaurants, gift shops. There are fishing excursions and boat tours available. The retail shops in the Harbor Village sell souvenirs, gift cards, clothing and unique nautical gifts. The retail area has just undegone some facelifts with new paving installed. There is a condo hotel right on the harbor and the harbor beach is very popular with surfers. It is one of three oceanside beach areas that local surfers prefer.

In September, the Harbor is the site of Oceanside Harbor Days which features arts and craft exhibits,vintage pirate ships, children's area, Nail 'n' Sail Competition, Military, Police & Fire displays, and more.
Oceanside Harbor is split into two sections with more than 900 permanent boat slips and there is a US coastguard station here with U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Point Hobart as its home base.

Oceanside Pier
Only a mile south from Oceanside is the popular Oceanside Pier. The pier has a long history and has been rebuilt numerous times. It is the longest Pier in San Diego County extending some 1900 feet out into the Ocean, providing an unusually good view of the shoreline and beaches of San Diego. You can fish from the Pier or come face to face with a California Pelican. On occasion a Seahawk will be perched atop Ruby's Diner, always alert for fish tossed back by the many people who fish from the Pier. Surfers often prefer the excellent waves near the Pier and the beaches are popular in the summer season. In the off-season the Oceanside beaches are not crowded at all. You can walk to jog all the way to Carlsbad 5 miles down the coast.
